Pearl City Home Inspections - Paul Burback
What is radon?
Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive gas that is found in rock, soil, and water across the earth's surface.  Radon and its decay products are known to cause lung cancer in humans.  The National Academy of Science and EPA agree that radon in homes causes thousands of U.S. lung cancer deaths per year.

Why should I test for radon?
There is only one way to know if your family is at risk-a radon test.  EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes below the third floor for radon.  You can fix a radon problem.  Even very high levels can be reduced to acceptable levels.

How does radon get into my house?
Radon gets in through:
  • Cracks in solid floors
  • Construction joints
  • Cracks in walls
  • Gaps in suspended floors
  • Gaps around service pipes
  • Cavities inside walls
  • The water supply
