ASHI Membership
There are no federal laws governing home inspectors. We are regulated only by the individual states.  Since the laws vary from state to state  how can you be sure that your inspector is qualified, experienced, and trustworthy?  One way is through a home inspector association.  As a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), you can be assured that we are not only qualified, but also adhere to the association’s standards of practice and code of ethics.  You can find more information about ASHI at their website, www.ashi.org.

Training
I am a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Industrial Technology.  I have worked in the electrical field and at an architectural firm as well.  I have many years experience in the field of manufacturing.  In 2008 I completed coursework through the Eastern Iowa Community College District in order to obtain my Home Inspector Career Certificate.

In July of 2008 I also completed coursework through the Midwest Universities Radon Consortium (MURC) at the University of Minnesota.  MURC is one of four U.S. EPA established Regional Radon Training Centers.  Following those courses, I passed the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) exam.  This exam must be passed in order to be listed or licensed by states.
